Computational geomechanics is an emerging field in the disciplines of Mining, Civil and Geotechnical Engineering. DEBASIS DEB, Ph.D. (University of Alabama), is Professor in the Department of Mining Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. Earlier, he worked as Research Associate in the University of Alabama and Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources (KIGAM), South Korea, and as Visiting Assistant Professor in the Southern Illinois University Carbondale, USA. He has taken several research projects related to development and applications of FEM and XFEM procedures in geomechanics. Dr. Debasis has to his credit over ninety research papers and two patents--ROCKVISION and MAXPIT.
