She was born in Milan, Italy and is the daughter of a publisher. She began proofreading in her family's publishing house and later began to write her own stories. Her fictional character of Geronimo Stilton made her an instant hit, not only in Italy, but in other parts of the world as well. She has written more than 100 books, which have been translated into 35 different languages. Her books target those children who are in the age group of 5-12 years of age.
