By 2050, India would have overtaken the US in gross domestic production and second only to China's. The Indian consumer will be one of the most sought after in the world. But the sheer scale of his demands will test not just India's, but the world's capacity. Even for basic like food, water and energy. The big differentiators would be democracy, and sustained reforms. China will undoubtedly be the world's most powerful economy but also the most feared. The progress should be calculated in terms of what has been left behind. What we have left behind are the mistakes of the past. What we take into the future is the certainty of a better tomorrow.
