The text is organized in two parts--Part I (Soil mechanics) and Part II (Foundation engineering): Part I includes the basic properties and strength of soil, vertical and lateral pressures, discussion on earthen dam, sheet piles, and stability analysis for hill slope in connection with hill road construction.
