Benjamin Franklin, born in 1706, was an American politician, writer, and inventor, and is one of the Founding Fathers of the United States of America. Born into a large family in Massachusetts, he attended school for a few years but was unable to graduate owing to financial problems. He played a major role in influencing the rising science of demography, labeled positive and negative charges on electricity, and experimented with the non-conduction of ice, among several other scientific feats. He has been honored on coinage and the $100 bill, and has left a legacy of great scientific and political achievements. He died in April 1970.
